History of the mansion:

Torn apart by Napoleon to build the Vivienne passage and the théâtre des Variétés, this unique venue was the private property of the Duke. He used to invite his friends to join him there: Victor Hugo, Lafayette, Jean-Jacques Rousseau and Voltaire.

Later on, this mansion would become a kind of Academy, where Gauguin and other artists started their careers.
